Why I Started Elixir Drip Studio: Bringing Mobile Wellness to Rhode Island
Elixir Drip Studio didn't begin with me simply wanting to own a business.
It grew from my years as a nurse and the experiences I've had caring for patients in the emergency room, intensive care unit, and now infusion nursing.
Throughout my career, I've seen what can happen when people are busy taking care of everything—and everyone—except themselves. I wanted to create a wellness service that makes it a little easier for people to make their own well-being a priority.
That's how Elixir Drip Studio began.
What My Years in the ER Taught Me
I spent six years working as an emergency room nurse, where I cared for many patients experiencing dehydration, heat exhaustion, and electrolyte imbalances.
Some had been sick. Others had spent too much time in the heat or hadn't been able to keep up with their fluid needs. In many of these cases, IV fluids and electrolyte replacement played an important role in their medical treatment and recovery.
But something else stood out to me.
People often keep going until their bodies tell them they can't anymore.
We work. We take care of our families. We run businesses. We handle appointments, errands, bills, and responsibilities. Feeling tired, thirsty, or simply "off" can be easy to ignore when there are a hundred other things that need our attention.
My time in the ER made me appreciate the importance of listening to your body and taking care of yourself before wellness becomes an afterthought.
What the ICU Added to My Experience
I then spent three years working in the intensive care unit.
There, I cared for critically ill patients and saw how significant electrolyte imbalances could occur alongside serious problems involving the heart, kidneys, and other body systems. IV fluids, electrolytes, medications, vitamins, and other therapies could all be part of a patient's carefully managed treatment plan.
The ICU is very different from the wellness services I am building through Elixir Drip Studio, but that experience shaped how seriously I take IV therapy.
It isn't "just an IV."
Safety, proper screening, appropriate provider involvement, and knowing when someone needs a higher level of medical care all matter.
Today, I'm an Infusion Nurse
Today, I work as an infusion nurse, where I have the opportunity to build relationships with my patients while helping them receive medications prescribed to improve and manage their health.
I enjoy being able to talk with my patients, answer their questions, make them comfortable, and help make their treatment experience a positive one.
Each part of my nursing career has given me something different.
The ER taught me to recognize when someone may need immediate help. The ICU strengthened my clinical knowledge. Infusion nursing has allowed me to combine clinical care with the personal connection that I love about nursing.
I wanted to bring all of that experience into Elixir Drip Studio.
Why I Chose Mobile Wellness
When I started researching IV hydration businesses in Rhode Island, I noticed something: while there were businesses offering similar wellness services, there were relatively few mobile options. That helped confirm my decision to build Elixir around a mobile model.
I chose mobile wellness because I understand how busy life can be.
Busy professionals may struggle to find time during the workday. Parents and caregivers may spend so much time caring for others that their own needs come last. Other people simply don't want to add driving, parking, and sitting in a waiting room to an already packed schedule.
My business plan was built around removing some of those barriers by bringing professional wellness services directly to clients rather than requiring them to visit a traditional location.
I want wellness to fit into your life—not make your life more complicated.
That's the heart of the mobile model.
My Goal for Elixir Drip Studio
After seeing so many people come through the emergency room with dehydration and related concerns, I would love to help people become more proactive about their wellness.
That doesn't mean an IV can prevent every urgent care or emergency room visit.
Elixir Drip Studio is not a replacement for your primary care provider, urgent care, or the emergency room. If your symptoms require medical evaluation or a higher level of care, that's where you should be.
Instead, my goal is to make appropriate wellness support easier to access while also encouraging people to listen to their bodies, stay hydrated, and make their health a priority.
Sometimes being a good nurse means providing a service. Other times, it means recognizing that a wellness service isn't appropriate and directing someone to the care they need.
Compassion. Professionalism. Convenience.
Those three words describe what I want Elixir Drip Studio to represent.
Compassion because I want every client to feel heard, respected, and cared for.
Professionalism because mobile and convenient should never mean lowering the standard of care.
Convenience because taking care of yourself shouldn't always require rearranging your entire day.
Those values are also at the center of the business I've been building: nurse-led, accessible care designed to reduce barriers such as travel, wait times, and scheduling challenges.
Elixir Drip Studio is my way of combining the experience I've gained throughout my nursing career with my passion for helping people feel cared for.
I'm excited to bring that experience outside of the traditional clinical setting and directly to my community here in Rhode Island.
